We have a physical body, a mental body, an emotional body, an energetic body and a spiritual body. Yoga Therapy uses the ancient science of yoga to create health at all of these levels of who we are. What to Expect You will learn tools and techniques of yoga that will serve to reconnect you to all these levels of who you are — from the physical body to the breath, the energetic body, mind and emotions, the higher wisdom faculty, and to the spirit. We will work with your goals. Each session is tailored to your needs, whether you want to gain relief from chronic pain, facilitate injury recovery, improve flexibility, reduce stress, improve well-being, get help with depression, or simply retain your youthful appearance and energy. Based on your needs, the practice will target specific disease conditions. Most disease conditions benefit from some yoga posture or yoga breathing techniques and not others. Yoga postures will be adjusted to meet your body’s needs. I will show you how to modify and adjust poses to your body’s specific needs, using props, modifications, and alignment assists.  This ensures that you get the full benefits from each pose. We will focus on deepening body awareness through fine subtleties of muscle relaxation, stretching, and strengthening.yoga1-7482        – In your first session: An intake form will be reviewed, and objectives for your session will be discussed. You will leave the first session with an initial prescription for personal practice; this will evolve as your condition changes. You will learn yoga postures, breathing exercises, and meditation/relaxation techniques specific for your condition. Handouts and resources for home study will be provided.
